My lovely dark-haired friend wanted sushi last night. Not one to disappoint, and sushi lover myself, I set to finding a place.
Origami, Nami, Fuji-Ya...all good but meh, been there done that. Talked to my brother-of-another-mother Nick and he said to try Anemoni, he hadn't been there but objective sources had praised it. I pointed the white craft of smooveness to Uptown, scooped up the girl, and we were off in the Saab turbo sled- she drove so we were soon rocketing down 1st Ave to Nicollet, at a high rate of speed, though in control.
HatTip to GirlFriday - she has the menu up.
My friend Liz is either the or a manager there - and she is the shit, so I figured it would be tasty and the space would be tight. It was - spicy yellowtail was outta sight, philly was ok, spicy tuna was tasty, the Caterpillar had great presentation, but I didn't think the eel had that really savory eely flavor.
Anyway, all in all, a great time. The service was excellent [Laura - thx for the mojito hookup] - and they tossed my martini when we went outside, so I got an Amstel on the house. Word. I give this place 4 out of 5 wasabi globs.
Night only got better when we ran into Gretchen and Sarria outside and had a few laughs. The dark-haired one has hilarious friends, but more on that later.
Go. To. Anemoni.
Have. Spicy. Yellowtail.
