Interesting take on MSFT's RSS support in Longhorn.
"This may be the most important announcement relating to the Internet and the 2008 Presidential Campaign. With this functionality, Presidential Campaign Web Sites could deliver lists of the top 10 issues, photo albums, videos, and podcasts as RSS feeds."
I respectfully disagree. RSS is an open standard, defined in XML. There are tons of RSS readers as well as free syndication products out there that can deliver content in RSS. IMHO - MSFT RSS is a complete yawner, they are late to and ill-equipped for the game, as per usual.
Mike, why would LOnghorn, MSFT's new OS, have any effect on the '08 Presidential race? RSS readers run on most OSs anyway. Do you mean to say that the emergence of free syndication products will make it easier to disseminate information? But again, the web, email, pdfs, torrents, make that easy enough. RSS has nothing at all to do with podcasting, other than podcasts are syndicate-able content.
Rick - this is right up your alley! Politics and syndication! We're so near your heart right now.....
