This WallyPower 118 has been around for some time. It's going to get lots of attention as the villan's sea transport in the next Bond movie.
The configuration is insane. So many options - you can set up the deck for entertaining, open ocean high-speed runs, sunbathing. The powerplant...well....check the stats:
Displacement: 95tons [considered ridiculously low for a 118 foot mega-craft]
Superstructure: Carbon Fiber and Laminated Composite Glass
Engines: 3 x DDC TF50 gas Turbines [(maritime cousins of the Chinook helicopter engine)] + 2 x Cummins 370HP [Aux] [—jet engines for speed, diesels for everything else—common on small warships, but rare on civillian vessels]
Power: 16,800HP
Cruising Speed: 60knots
Fuel Capacity: 22,000l
Propulsion System: The propulsion system consists of three gas turbines generating 16,800 HP, driving water jets - two steerable outboard and a non-steering on centreline. For manoeuvring and long deliveries, the steerable water jets are powered by two diesel engines of 370 HP each.Exhaust:
Exhaust System: constructed from titanium that saves weight while being very resistent to the high temperatures generated by the gas turbines.
How much you ask? $16.55 million when the yacht is equipped with twin diesels, $24.83 million as tested, with triple gas turbines.
A steal at twice the price! I'll take 3! An impressive vessel no doubt, but being a sailor myself, I'd take Y3K over any express mega-yacht any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
